Qatari aid for Pakistan


- Based on the directives of His Highness, the Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the State of Qatar provided great assistance to Pakistan in October 2005 after a disastrous earthquake that struck the northern parts of Pakistan. Medical and relief missions were dispatched which spent a long time in the affected areas, and set up various hospitals, Pharmacies and clinics, which were later handed over to the Pakistani authorities after Qatari teams’ work ended. In addition, relief teams belonging to the brotherhood and the Qatari Red Crescent and other non-governmental relief organizations were sent, which set up health relief projects, reconstruction and development programs, and contributed to the reconstruction of what was destroyed by the earthquake.

- Upon the directives of  His Highness, the Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, may God protect him, the Government of the State of Qatar sent urgent support to Pakistan in the flood disaster, which had five cargo planes loaded with more than 270 tons of relief material as well as medical teams, which established mobile medical clinics to assist the afflicted. Qatar contributed in providing support at all stages during flood relief program, including reconstruction and development projects. In addition, the Qatari Red Crescent held several campaigns to collect donations for Pakistan, and requested donors to contribute to the collection of 6.5 million Qatari riyals, and collected 1.5 million Qatari riyals within one month of that campaign.

- On 2/2/2017 The Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan delivered (10) ambulances to His Excellency the Federal Minister for States and Tribal Areas Affairs, General ® Abdul Qadir Baloch, during the ceremony held in Islamabad at the headquarter of Balochistan Government, as a gift from His Highness Sheikh / Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, may God protect him, for Kharan and Washuk regions of Balochistan province.

- A project for the development of lighting, landing and Guidance systems at Lahore Airport, with a value of 21.5 million euros, was financed which was implemented by the Safe Gate Group.

- The Government of the State of Qatar donated eight buses on 18/09/2015 to PIA and these buses are manufactured to transport passengers to the plane, and the value of these buses is 200 million Pakistani rupees.

- Qatar Red Crescent completed a project to establish 252 houses for families affected by the floods in the "Baloch Abadi" and "Vladin" areas in Mirpur Khas district of Sindh.

- During the year 2013, Qatar Red Crescent constructed, rehabilitated and equipped the operation Theater at Faculty of Medicine and the Educational Hospital Seedu, which is located in Seedu Sharif in the Swat Valley of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

- The Embassy of the State of Qatar in Islamabad delivered (4) relief vehicles to the Pakistani authorities in 2010, which include (2) vehicles to provide urgent assistance, (1) mobile clinic and (1) mobile medical laboratory. While the Consulate General of the State of Qatar in Karachi handed over (14) cars to the Pakistani authorities.
