Word from the Ambassador

I am pleased to welcome you to the official website of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Islamabad as Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The relations between Qatar and Pakistan have gone through three main phases:

1st Phase:

The first phase of bilateral relations started with the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1973 till 1999. During this phase, both countries explored the possibilities and opportunities for cooperation in various fields, paving the way for the start of a new era of relations between the two brotherly countries and people, in which mutual respect, understanding and sincere cooperation prevailed.

2nd Phase:

The visit of His Highness the Father Amir, Sheikh / Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to Pakistan in 1999 was the beginning of the second phase of bilateral relations, as this visit laid the foundations that strengthened and developed the ties between the two brotherly countries through time. During that visit, a number of agreements were signed, covering the areas of economic and political cooperation, to mark the dawn of a new era of relations between the State of Qatar and Pakistan.

3rd Phase:

This phase started with the visit of His Highness, Sheikh / Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the state of Qatar, to Pakistan during 2015. It was a successful and fruitful visit that led to the enhancement of bilateral relations, developing and transferring them to various new horizons, especially in the field of economy and energy, as this visit was followed by some very important events in the history of bilateral relations:  In the year 2016, the agreement to import LNG was made, which formed a new beginning for the economic partnership between the two countries. The volume of trade exchange between the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has witnessed remarkable growth, rising by 233 percent in 2018 to reach $ 2.6 billion, compared to $ 782 million in 2016, making Pakistan the tenth trading partner of the State of Qatar. Connecting Karachi port in Pakistan with the Hamad Port in Doha with a direct sea route, in addition to the role of Qatar Airways, which connects many Pakistani cities with Doha, has surely contributed in all of this.

In addition to that, the number of Qatari - Pakistani joint companies operating in the State of Qatar has reached about 851, and there are (6) companies in the State of Qatar, owned 100% by the Pakistani side. The State of Qatar continues to employ Pakistani professional and semi-professional cadres in accordance with the directives of His Highness, Sheikh / Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the state of Qatar, regarding raising the number of Pakistanis working in the State of Qatar. Qatar chose Pakistan among the first eight countries to launch "Qatar Visa Centers", which facilitate issuing visas to Pakistani citizens, guarantee their rights through documentation of contracts, and facilitate the procedure of their recruitment. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude and appreciation for the Pakistani brothers working in the State of Qatar for their outstanding role in the comprehensive development witnessed being by the State of Qatar.
