HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani left Pakistan on Sunday, after a two-day state visit.
His Highness The Amir arrived in Islamabad Saturday evening on a two-day state visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Upon arrival, HH The Amir and the accompanying delegation were welcomed at Noor Khan Air Base, by HE the Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan accompanied by ministers and senior officials.
Also present at the airport to greet HH The Amir were HE the State of Qatar's Ambassador to Pakistan Mr Saqar bin Mubarak Al Mansouri and members of the Qatar Embassy.
The JF-17 Fighters circled in the Air welcoming The Amir’s visit, and the artillery fired 21 rounds upon the arrival of HH The Amir.
His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and HE Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Imran Khan discussed bilateral ties between the two countries and means to promote and develop them in different spheres. The meeting, which was held at Prime Minister’s Office in the capital Islamabad, discussed a number of regional and international issues of common concern.
An official talks session was also held, where both sides discussed aspects of enhancing relations between the two countries in various fields, especially in economy, trade, investment, energy, tourism, education and other fields that serve the bilateral interests of the two countries. A number of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between the governments of two countries were signed aiming to expand the horizons of trade and investment cooperation, support communication, and enhance confidence between the two countries, in addition to an MoU for cooperation in the fields of
tourism and business activities, and an MoU to cooperate in exchange of financial investigations pertinent to money laundering, related original crime and the financing of terrorism, that aims to enhance cooperation to effectively reduce and combat money laundering and terrorism financing.
On the second day of the visit, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani called on His Excellency Dr. Arif Alvi, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, where bilateral relations and means of developing them were discussed, as well as regional and international issues.
President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi held a special investiture ceremony in which His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani was conferred upon Nishan e Pakistan, highest of civil awards and decorations given by the Government of Pakistan, Reflecting the depth of the historical relations between the State of Qatar and Pakistan. The ceremony was followed by a luncheon in honor of His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar.
